Humour Of Initiation

The Show opens on Saturday and I'm off to Bristol tomorrow to start hanging and painting.

Jamie's finished the Coffin / ledge with the help of Viking Blocks. Its gonna be sick!! Its gonna be in the gallery on saturday and then we're gonna take it around Bristol on sunday to get skated on the Sunday and Alan Glass is gonna make a video / pod cast for the Vans site. So come down for the beer and see the drawing on sat and then the skating sunday.

The South

I just got back from a trip to North Florida, with my friend Valerie. It was so white trash and red neck. I even got to skate the amazing Kona skatepark. I'll have a few foto's on here really soon.

Concussion Magazine

After the postman being a prick.... at last I got my box from Johnny at Concussion mag. He sent me some stickers, a mash cap with the logo I drew on it and also a shirt with my drawing and logo on there. I know it was also a suburban bliss shirt years ago, but Johnny wanted it for the mag really badly and Toby didn't mind it being used with a Concussion logo.

Stoked to get my work in Concussion, also this issue of the mag has the Hellfest article, which I wrote the intro....I'm a journalist now.

This weekend I had one of my proudest moments as a friend, my mate Danny's band "Decrepid" played.... they were brutal as all hell. I've known Danny for a while, we used to work together in "Skate Of Mind" skate shop. He's been working really hard to get this band going and they were amazing. Good to see people following dreams .....

It wasn't a small gig either they were supporting metal legends "Nunslaughter" .... good work !

Obviously Alanglass and Gt were there ......and a woman with a massive Manowar tattoo.

.....and yes they got so pissed they fell over.

Like Wayne and Garth.... Danny and Gt.... with Jo. Can't wait to see them play again....

COFFIN - Humour of Initiation update

For the Humour of Initiation Exhibition with Vans in Bristol, we're making (me and Jamie) a child size coffin for the show, with a pool coping top to be skated the sunday after the show. AlanGlass is maing a pod cast of all the action for the Vans website.

So far I drew this image to go on the top and this is what it currently is planned to look like. We're just waiting on the coping from Viking Blocks to arrive at the end of this week and then I can paint it and Jamie can put it all together.

This is Jamie's planned design and below, what it currently looks like in his yard.

Also exciting news, I got these prints made for the show, I picked them up and framed them today. There's gonna be around 8 different screen prints available at the show, all not shown in the Uk before and these 3 are new. Also we've got zines, badges, bandanas and maybe stickers as well. Also a wide range of framed originals for the show, some so new I drew them this week. More importantly there's gonna be free beer......

How rad are Vans for sorting this out.....?

This is one of the proudest things I've been able to do, making a drawing for a band I really like and respect... it's so rad.

Beanie in Rome

My mate Beanie and Mrs Beanie went to Rome recently and found a shirt I designed for Altamont in a skate shop there.....looks like I'm world wide BDP,

I don't play around nor do I f*** around
and you can tell by the bodies that are left around
when some clown jumps up to get beat down
broken down to his very last compound
see how it sounds? a little unrational
a lot of mc's like to use the word DRAMATICAL!
Fresh for '88, you suckas...

Wolff Olins

This week I went into Wolff Olins and gave a short informal talk about my work, where my ideas come from, how my interest in art / music developed from when I was a kid. I took a bunch of records and discussed which album covers and music have been really influencial for my work from Black Sabbath "Born Again" to Death "Leprosy", Nuclear Assault "The Plague" to bands like Nuclear Hammer and Morbosisdad. I looked at logo's and typeface a little, Nuclear Hammer's logo being one of my all time favourites as well as that sort of home made lowfi quality to all the artwork.

I think people were pretty receptive to what I said and at least I think some had a laugh, thanks to Jason for asking me to come in and wow they have an amazing canteen. The rice pudding is epic....

Humour Of Initiation Exhibition

I have this exhibition being put on by Vans to celebrate the launch of the Dustin Dollin shoe I drew som artwork for. Vans have created a new gallery with the guys from 50/50 in Bristol. Its being built as we speak it should be ready for the show opening...well it better be.

All the info for the show is below:

The shows gonna be a mix of new Original artwork in ink and pencil, and some really limited edition screen prints. Jamie the Pirate is helping build an Coffin style block to skate, with a pool coping top so it'll be a proper grind! The guys at Viking Blocks are hooking us up with the pool coping..good lads.

Also there's gonna be an after party with Metal bands playing.... at the moment we have some problems getting a venue, at short notice but we have Dan Wound on the search and should be able to get something sorted this week. There's some proper brutal bands on the list.

AlanGlass, The Pirate, Katy Perry.....Bristol Galleries

A few weeks ago myself and Jamie the Pirate popped down to Bristol to meet up with Jasper to look at a place for an exhibition I'm gonna be having the 1st weekend of April in Bristol for the launch of the Dollin Vans shoe I made artwork for. I'll have more info on the show here really soon.

It was a friday so we looked at the gallery space, cleared up all the work and then got some skating done on the friday and the saturday. The friday night was my brothers birthday so I drove over to Newport to see him and AlanGlass got drunk on cider as usual.

Jamie just sent me this you can see we're into some dark music.... Katy Perry is the nuts!!

Gig in Preston

Frosty used my drawing for this poster for a gig in Preston, I'm gonna try and go... if I can.

Last night I went to see Obituary play with my friend Jason, they fucking ruled. They played a kinder odd set, with a few songs they don't usually include. I was stoked they played "Final Thoughts" .

Afterwards, we met up with Jason's lady, Valerie, for a curry and I stayed over.... all very civilised. Valerie has a new website ....check it out .

Final thoughts

So long to you
Just lost the blow, so long to you
So long to you my friend.
Fell thoughts of souls descend.

The final thoughts
Final thoughts

Lethal Weapon

On saturday Stu, Jamie, Peacock and me went to Dartford to skate the park. While there, Peacock decided to try and be like Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon and dislocated his sholder, after 4 hours in Hospital and taking a load of gas, pain killers and morphine a nice Doctor put it back in for him. Like a good lad, we managed to get to Unit 1 at 11pm for a few hours skate for Craig and Johns birthday party.

Just wait for the Lovenskate dvd, 'cos Stu was filming when he did it ...

Get well soon Cock ....

Giant Robot New York and San Fran Exhibitions

Eric at Giant Robot has asked me to take part in 2 different exhibitions in April, one in New York and one in San Fran. The work below is what I'm sending for the New York show, there's no theme so I just thought some pictures of Satan, Skeleton Monks, Snake Killing a chicken and people being hung would lighten the mood.....

And for the San Fran show there's a theme of Tree's. The show is conjunction with the SF-based organization Friends of the Urban Forest, a group dedicated to maintaining the greenery in SF, as well as planting new trees all over the city. GR are asking artists to contribute 2-3 pieces, nature/tree related to the exhibition. Apparently this show is BIG in San Francisco. The Tree Shows are always very good, and the lineup Luke at Giant Robot has been putting together for this one is going to be incredibly deep and eclectic.....and I'm in it as well?

So tree's and nature, you get a dude mutating into a fly, an axe...I like the idea it could the the axe the hunting in Red Riding hood uses to cut the wolf open and then fill him with stones and then a pinecone....or when you're a kid playing army...its a grenade.

All the works for the shows are originals, all for the NY show are in ink and the SF show pencil and they will all be for sale as well. I'm sending all pretty small size works nothing over 15" square, its cheaper and easier to send that way. I'll put an invite for each show on here as I get them.

They'll be in the post really soon.....

Pig Destroyer / Trash Talk

I did this ages ago and forgot to put it on here, it was a poster for the Pig Destroyer / Trash Talk double headline gig Scion put on.

Plan B Magazine

I drew this for the next Plan B magazine.

Marcus Oakley

At last I'm a piece art made my the world famous Marcus Oakley. He sent me this text last night.... as you can see I look better as a drawing than as a real person.
